At Nethold Group, we have been wondering lately what the future of retail holds.  

It is important for anyone who has an interest in commercial property, whether you rent commercial property or own any type of commercial property.

How will small business compete against the ''unlimited'' options that online shopping offer?  How can they adapt to the new online world?

We have searched and found some interesting and thought-provoking articles on the future of retail.

INSIDE THE STORE OF THE FUTURE

The first insightful information found was on Forbes.com, in a slide show entitled Inside the Store of the Future. According to these predictions, shops of the future will have the look of a nightclub, be social and ''coded for conversation'', technology will be front and center and the interior designers will specifically design stores to promote eye contact.

A FUTURIST'S VIEW

The futurist  Anders Sorman-Nilsson wrote an article on his blog entitled What does the future of retail look like?  He thinks the retail experience must shift to be relevant in the future.  He says a retail store will become more of a showroom or concept store.  

SOUTH AFRICAN ONLINE SHOPPING STUDY

Mastercard did a study about online shopping in South Africa and produced a great infographic to show the results.  

It seems that retailers must start taking note of the new trends emerging and evolving at great speed.  We will certainly be paying attention, as it affects our business too!
